NFL Announces Dates for Offseason Program

The NFL announced the start dates of its three-phase offseason workout program for all 32 teams on Friday, including the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Phase One will be a two-week period consisting of meetings, strength and conditioning training and rehabilitation, while Phase Two will be three weeks of on-field drills and walkthroughs without contact.

Phase Three signals the start of OTAs where teams still cannot go full contact, but can conduct variations of 7-on-7, 9-on-7. and 11-on-11 drills.

Teams will also be permitted to hold one mandatory minicamp for veteran players. Clubs with newly-hired head coaches are also allowed to host an additional optional minicamp for veterans prior to the 2022 NFL Draft.

Franchises may also hold a seven-week rookie football development program for their 2022 selections.

Pittsburgh’s offseason program will begin on April 18. The Steelers will hold OTAs from May 24-26, May 31-June 2 and June 6-9. Their mandatory minicamp will be held from June 14-16.
