NFL Free Agency Rundown: Steelers Miss on Another Top CB, Murphy

NFL free agency is off to a hot start as several players have already found their homes for the 2025 season.

Here is the latest news and signings around the league:

Quarterback Dominoes

  • Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold is signing a three-year, $110.5 million deal with the Seattle Seahawks. The 27-year-old threw for a career-high 4,319 yards and 35 touchdowns in 2024.
  • Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Justin Fields is signing a two-year, $40 million deal with the New York Jets. The 26-year-old threw for 1,106 yards, five touchdowns and just one interception while leading the Steelers to a 4-2 start in 2024.
  • Minnesota Vikings quarterback Daniel Jones is signing a one-year, $14 million deal with the Indianapolis Colts. The 27-year-old threw for 2,070 yards, eight touchdowns and seven interceptions in 10 starts with the Giants before the team ultimately released him.

Playmakers

  • Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin is resigning with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on a three-year, $66 million deal. The 29-year-old had 50 catches for 576 yards and five touchdowns in seven games before suffering a season-ending ankle injury in 2024.
  • Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton is resigning with New York on a three-year, $36 million deal. The 28-year-old had 39 catches for 573 yards and two touchdowns in 2024.
  • Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Joshua Palmer is signing a three-year, $36 million deal with the Buffalo Bills. The 25-year-old had 39 catches for 584 yards and one touchdown in 15 games in 2024.
  • Washington Commanders wide receiver Dyami Brown is signing a one-year deal worth up to $12 million deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The 25-year-old had 30 catches for 308 yards and one touchdown in 16 games in 2024.
  • Buffalo Bills wide receiver is signing a two-year, $10.4 million deal with the New England Patriots. The 31-year-old had a career-high five touchdowns in 2024 along with 31 catches for 378 yards.

Offensive Linemen

  • Pittsburgh Steelers left tackle Dan Moore Jr. is signing a four-year, $82 million deal with the Tennessee Titans. The former fourth-round pick served as the Steelers starting left tackle for the first four years of his NFL career.
  • Baltimore Ravens offensive lineman Patrick Mekari is signing a three-year deal worth up to $39 million with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The 27-year-old has showcased his versatility, playing all over the Ravens offensive line.
  • Cardinals offensive tackle Kelvin Beachum is resigning with Arizona on a one-year, $4.5 million deal. The 35-year-old began his NFL career as a seventh-round pick (No. 248 overall) by the Steelers in 2012.

Defensive Linemen

  • Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Milton Williams is signing a four-year, $104 million deal with the New England Patriots. The 25-year-old had a career-high five sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery in 2024 while helping the Eagles win Super Bowl LIX.
  • Washington Commanders defensive tackle Jonathan Allen is signing a three-year, $60 million deal with the Minnesota Vikings. The 30-year-old had 19 tackles and three sacks in eight games in 2024 before missing most of the season with a torn pectoral muscle.
  • Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman Tershawn Wharton is signing a three-year deal worth up to $54 million with the Carolina Panthers. The 26-year-old had a career-high 29 tackles, 6.5 sacks and two passes defensed in 2024.
  • New York Jets defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw is signing a three-year, $45 million deal with the Washington Commanders. The 27-year-old had a career-high 40 tackles, 4.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery in 2024.
  • Atlanta Falcons defensive tackle Grady Jarrett is signing a three-year, $43.5 million deal with the Chicago Bears. The 31-year-old had 53 tackles and 2.5 sacks in 2024.
  • Bengals defensive tackle B.J. hill is resigning with Cincinnati on a three-year, $33 million deal. The 29-year-old had 56 tackles, three sacks and four passes defensed in 2024.
  • Los Angeles Chargers defensive lineman Poona Ford is signing a three-year deal worth up to $29.6 million with the Los Angeles Rams. The 29-year-old had 39 tackles, three sacks, one interception and five passes defensed in 2024.
  • San Francisco 49ers defensive tackle Javon Hargrave is signing with the Minnesota Vikings. The 32-year-old began his NFL career as a third-round pick (No. 89 overall) by the Steelers and had seven tackles and one sack in three games before partially tearing his right tricep in 2024.
  • Cleveland Browns defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson will be released at the start of the new league year.

Linebackers

  • Las Vegas Raiders linebacker Robert Spillane is signing a three-year, $37.5 million deal with the New England Patriots. He began his career as an undrafted free agent in 2018 and spent four seasons (2019-22) with the Steelers before joining the Raiders in 2023.
  • Baltimore Ravens linebacker Malik Harrison is signing a two-year, $10 million deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The 27-year-old had a career-high 54 tackles and two sacks in 2024.

Cornerbacks

  • Vikings cornerback Byron Murphy is resigning with Minnesota on a three-year, $66 million deal. The 27-year-old had a career-high 81 tackles, one forced fumble, six interceptions and 14 passes defensed in 2024.
  • Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Nate Hobbs is signing a four-year, $48 million deal with the Green Bay Packers. The 25-year-old had 49 tackles, one interception and five passes defensed in 2024.
  • San Francisco 49ers cornerback Charvarius Ward is signing a three-year deal worth up to $60 million with the Indianapolis Colts. The 28-year-old had 54 tackles and seven passes defensed in 2024.
  • Detroit Lions cornerback Carlton Davis is signing a three-year, $60 million deal with the New England Patriots. The 28-year-old had 56 tackles, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, two interceptions and 11 passes defensed in 2024.
  • New Orleans Saints cornerback Paulson Adebo is signing a three-year, $54 million deal with the New York Giants. The 25-year-old had 52 tackles, three interceptions and 10 passes defensed in seven games in 2024 before suffering a season-ending broken femur.

  • Dallas Cowboys cornerback Jourdan Lewis is signing a three-year, $30 million deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The 29-year-old had a career-high 71 tackles in 2024 along with one sack, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, one interception and eight passes defensed.
  • Los Angeles Chargers cornerback Kristian Fulton is signing a two-year, $20 million deal with the Kansas City Chiefs. The 26-year-old had a career-high 51 tackles along with one interception and seven passes defensed in 2024.
  • Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Donte Jackson is signing a two-year, $13 million deal with the Los Angeles Chargers. The 29-year-old led the Steelers with five interceptions in 2024 along with 38 tackles, one fumble recovery and eight passes defensed.
  • Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Darius Slay is signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The 34-year-old had 49 tackles, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and 13 passes defensed in 2024 while helping the Eagles win Super Bowl LIX.
