Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool could face discipline from the NFL for his role in a fight outside a California establishment earlier this month, NFL inside John Clayton said during his appearance on 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh on Wednesday.

Claypool was involved in an altercation on March 13 outside the Wild Goose Tavern in Costa Mesa, California, according to video obtained by TMZ, which appears to show Claypool kicking a man on the ground.

None of the participants were criminally charged, but Clayton believes the NFL will investigate the incident and that Claypool could face supplementary discipline from the league, including a potential suspension.

“When you go on TMZ and there’s video, that’s not good,” Clayton said to PM Team hosts Chris Mueller and Andrew Fillipponi. “There could be (discipline). … Probably a game, maybe two games at the most.”

The NFL’s personal conduct policy prohibits “actual or threatened physical violence against another person” and says the league will investigate when it becomes aware of possible violations. Claypool could be found in violation of the policy even if no criminal charges are filed “if credible evidence establishes that he engaged in conduct prohibited.”

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will ultimately decide whether or not Claypool faces further discipline.
