The Pittsburgh Steelers and T.J. Watt are still trying to iron out a contract extension that would likely keep the latter around for the duration of his NFL career. In a scenario where they don’t get something done, there would surely be a list of suitors wanting to add the man who sits atop the Steelers’ career sacks leaderboard.

According to BetOnline.ag, the New England Patriots (+300) have the best odds to acquire T.J. Watt if he and the Steelers don’t come to terms. The Seattle Seahawks (+400), Philadelphia Eagles (+500), Arizona Cardinals (+600), and Tennessee Titans (+700) follow.

Watt is making approximately $28 million per season and is set to become an unrestricted free agent next offseason. The Cleveland Browns’ Myles Garrett recenlty commanded a deal that pays him more than $40 million each go-round. While it’s fair to assume T.J. Watt wants something similar — if not greater — NFL insider Ian Rapoport doesn’t foresee him and the Steelers going their separate ways.

“It’s hard to imagine that’s a potential reality,” Rapoport said Monday on “The Pat McAfee Show.” “When the Steelers have wanted to sign a player, and the Steelers have wanted to commit to a guy, generally, they have got it done. Now, it’s not always on the timeline we all want. … It’s not always on the timeline of, like, right now, where I could just hit send on the tweet and just kind of move on from there.

“A lot of times these deals happen right before training camp because, remember, the Steelers have a policy of not negotiating into the season.”
