How tenuous is the grip of Mitch Trubisky on the Pittsburgh Steelers starting quarterback role? So shaky that you can no longer even bet on him being the first quarterback to be benched this NFL season.

According to odds released on Monday by sportsbetting.ag, Trubisky, who had been the favorite, has been taken off the board for betting on the first NFL quarterback benched this year.

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Marcus Mariota is the new favorite at +250. Seattle Seahawks and former West Virginia quarterback Gino Smith is second at +300. Carolina Panthers starter Baker Mayfield is third at +450.

Trubisky‘s first appearance as the Pittsburgh Steelers starting quarterback at Acrisure Stadium on Sunday with marred by chants for the Steelers’ other quarterback, first-round draft pick Kenny Pickett.

Statistically, Trubisky has been underwhelming in his first two games as Pittsburgh’s starting quarterback. He is 23rd in completion percentage, 28th in average net yards per attempt and 29th in passer rating after two weeks.

Pickett, Trubisky and Mason Rudolph battled throughout training camp and the preseason to be the Steelers’ starting quarterback, with head coach Mike Tomlin only naming Trubisky the starter the week before the regular season.

Since then, Tomlin has reportedly decided to give Trubisky a long leash as a starter. He said repeatedly throughout training camp that he was not going to be reactionary when it came to how he decided his starting quarterback. In speaking with the media on Monday, Tomlin stress patience with the position.

“I’m going to exercise appropriate patience and continue to teach and ask the guys who continue to learn in an effort to continue to push this train down the track and get better,” Tomlin said. “We don’t try to quell the noise. To be quite honest with you, we don’t care about the noise. We’re just working on the things that are within our control to have good days and to continue the progression of this group from a developmental standpoint, knowing that the outcome is going to be what we desire if we keep doing those things.:
