Odds: Steelers Among Trade Suitors for Star Receiver

DK Metcalf probably won’t be suiting up for the Seattle Seahawks next season. In need of another viable receiver, the Pittsburgh Steelers could be in the mix of teams to acquire the two-time Pro Bowler in a trade.
Metcalf requested a change of scenery on Wednesday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported. According to betonline.ag, Metcalf has 7-to-1 odds to land with the Steelers. The Las Vegas Raiders, led by Metcalf’s former coach, Pete Carroll, have the same chances. Green Bay (3/1) and New England (5/1) lead the pack.
Metcalf, 27, wants a new contract as he has one season left on the three-year, $72 million extension he signed with Seattle in 2022. He’s on the books for $18 million this upcoming season.

Throughout his six seasons as a pro, DK Metcalf has averaged 4.5 receptions and 65.2 receiving yards per game, having played in 97 total contests. He’s never had a go-round with fewer than 900 receiving yards but had a career-worst five touchdown grabs in 2024. Metcalf missed two games during that schedule with a knee injury.
The Seahawks have heavily relied on him in their passing game, targeting him at least 100 times each year. Only eight receivers have been thrown to more during that stretch, that list being topped by Davante Adams. Adams could also be an option for the Steelers, having been released by the New York Jets on Tuesday.
Worth noting, Metcalf has totaled 38 penalties since entering the league, 10 more than any other player at his position. The Steelers already have to take George Pickens’ mercurial nature into account, though Metcalf’s talent and production is undeniable.
