Odds: Steelers Consensus Favorites to Land J.J. Watt
The Houston Texans parted ways with star defensive end J.J. Watt on Friday, and just hours later, odds have been released for his next destination.
The Pittsburgh Steelers, whom his brothers T.J. and Derek play for, are the consensus favorites to land Watt, according to DraftKings.
DraftKings Sportsbook (4/1) all give the Steelers the best odds to sign Watt.
There is far less consensus beyond Pittsburgh, as a number of last year’s playoff teams are viewed as attractive destinations for Watt.
The Green Bay Packers are the only other club universally seen as a potential landing spot. Watt is a Wisconsin native and played his college ball in Madison. He would certainly provide a boost to a franchise that has been a game away from the Super Bowl the last two seasons.
Oddsmakers have the Packers anywhere from 4/1 to 9/1.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys, Baltimore Ravens and Seattle Seahawks are also seen as likely destinations.
Watt exits Houston as one of the greatest players in franchise history. He was selected to five Pro Bowls, named First-Team All-Pro on five occasions and earned three NFL Defensive Player of the Year awards.
A future Hall of Famer, Watt is the Texans’ all-time leader in sacks (101), tackles-for-loss (172) and forced fumbles (25).
