Pittsburgh Steelers right tackle Broderick Jones had another dreadful performance on Monday night against the New York Giants. He’s easily the worst player in the Steelers starting lineup right now. Something is just not right. His technique has been downright abysmal.

Effort is also a concern, though. Offensive line guru Duke Manyweather thinks Jones is playing like he hates football.

“Broderick Jones is too talented to play like he just doesn’t give a f*** and hates football!” Manyweather tweeted during the game.

Manyweather, who is the founder of OL Masterminds, trains a boatload of NFL and Division 1 offensive lineman, including Steelers left tackle Dan Moore Jr. and former Steelers offensive lineman Kevin Dotson and Kendrick Green.

Since 2018, he has seen 70 of his players drafted, including 12 first-round picks, 30 top-100 picks, with another 17 UDFA making rosters.

Jones’ facemask penalty in the first quarter negated a George Pickens touchdown reception. It was a blatant facemask penalty, too. Andrew Fillipponi of 93.7 The Fan thinks Broderick Jones is unplayable right now.

The film doesn’t lie, either. Like Manyweather said, Jones displayed poor effort in Monday night’s game.

Former NFL offensive lineman Mitchell Schwartz also ripped Jones on X.

“Broderick knows you’re allowed to use your hands right? Sometimes I’m not sure he knows it’s legal to do so,” Schwartz wrote.

Jones was benched earlier this year for his subpar play, but with rookie Troy Fautanu out for the year, the Steelers really have no choice but to play him. They don’t have anyone on the roster who would be better.

Jones was selected by the Steelers at 14th overall in the 2023 NFL Draft out of Georgia. After a solid rookie campaign, Jones has struggled mightily this season. A right elbow injury was noted as a possible reason for his struggles, but it appears to be something more than just that.

It’s too early to say that Jones is a bust, but his play has definitely been concerning.
