Ohio State QB Would Love to Be Drafted by Steelers: ‘It’s Definitely a Great Spot’
Ohio State quarterback Will Howard likes the idea of being selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2025 NFL Draft.

The Pittsburgh Steelers might not be in love with this year’s rookie quarterback class, but several prospects, including Ohio State’s Will Howard, would love to land in the Steel City.
According to Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin and general manager Omar Khan met with Howard, along with Ohio State running backs Quinshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson, ahead of their pro day. And Howard is already dreaming of the scenario he ends up in the black and gold.
“It’s been really good, man. Spent some time with them yesterday, coach Tomlin, coach Smith,” Howard said. “I really like those guys. It’s close to home for me. It’s close to here. There’s a lot of things to like about it, but you never know. Anything can happen, but it’s definitely a great spot.”
The Steelers have spent most of their time this offseason meeting with defensive linemen and running backs — two of their biggest needs. However, it seems like they’re starting to do their homework on the quarterbacks as they continue to wait on free agent quarterback Aaron Rodgers to make a decision on where he wants to play in 2025.
Howard is an intriguing prospect. He helped lead the Buckeyes to a College Football National Championship while throwing for 4,010 yards, 35 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 2024. He also rushed for 226 yards and seven more scores.

Before transferring to Ohio State in 2024, Howard played at Kansas State for four years, two of which he was the starter. During those two seasons, he threw for 4,276 yards, 39 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.
It shouldn’t take high draft capital to land the 6-foot-4, 236-pound quarterback, either. Howard currently ranks as the consensus No. 116 overall player and seventh best quarterback on the NFL Mock Draft Database big board.
So Howard may just get his wish, even if the Steelers do finally convince the 41-year-old Rodgers to join them for the 2025 season.
