No matter what’s going on with the present day team, Steelers fans always have a great moment in the history of the franchise to look back on and remember fondly. Today, we offer an iconic moment involving one of the most beloved Steelers legends that happened on this day in 2005.
On Dec. 11, 2005, running back Jerome Bettis trucked over fellow Hall of Famer Brian Urlacher of the Chicago Bears. The moment embodied Bettis’ brutal style and took place as snow fell from the sky in a pivotal game between two historic franchises known for physical play.

When you add in that Bettis finished the game with 101 yards and 2 touchdowns in a Steelers 21-9 win, the moment also serves as an important one from a season that culminated in a Super Bowl title, which was the first and only championship in Bettis’ career.
Most Hall of Fame players have a moment, or two or three, that people immediately think of when they reflect on the career of that player. Acting as a human bulldozer over Urlacher serves as one of those moments for Bettis.
