Panthers Re-Sign former Steelers Wide Receiver

The Carolina Panthers have re-signed former Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State wide receiver Dan Chisena for the 2025 season, the team announced last week.
Chisena, 28, is a Paoli, Pennsylvania native. He spent the 2023 training camp and preseason with the Steelers. In three preseason games, he had one catch for 16 yards.
Chisena does most of his work on special teams, having played in 37 career regular season games with the Minnesota Vikings, Arizona Cardinals, Baltimore Ravens and Panthers. He’s made just three career receptions.
After being waived by the Steelers in 2023, Chisena re-signed with the Vikings, who gave him his NFL start as an undrafted free agent in 2020. He was on their practice squad for six weeks before being released and signed to the Arizona Cardinals practice squad. After their season ended, he joined the Baltimore Ravens practice squad.
In 2024, Chisena re-signed in Arizona, was placed on the practice squad in August, and was cut in October. He caught in with the Panthers and ended ip playing in six games for Carolina over the end of the 2024 season. He played 19 snaps of offense in addition to 81 reps on special teams for the Charlotte squad.
Chisena finished the 2024 season with two tackles, three catches on four targets for 37 yards.

A track and football star at Downingtown East High School in Chester County, Chisena ran track for Penn State from 2016-18. He competed in the 100 and 400 meters, and was a part of Penn State’s relay team that won the 2017 Big Ten championship.
In 2018, he walked onto the football team, playing appearing in two games on special teams while also being a multiple-time scout team player of the week. The following season, he earned a scholarship, played in 12 games and made two starts. He won the John Bruno Award as Penn State’s top special teams player.
