Penguins Hold Moment of Silence for Late Steelers QB Dwayne Haskins

Every Pittsburgh team shares a bond, the bond of representing the same city and playing in front of the same people. A loss for one of the teams can be felt by the others too. The Penguins know that and made sure to pay their respects to the late Steelers quarterback Dwayne Haskins, who was killed in a car wreck in South Florida Saturday morning.

A moment of silence was held for the 24-year-old. Haskins’ picture was placed on the jumbotron for all to see.

Haskins had been in Florida training with fellow Steelers quarterback Mitch Trubisky and a number of the team’s backs and receivers, getting in extra work ahead of the team’s offseason program, which is scheduled to start later this month.

The Steelers signed Haskins in January 2021 after a two-year stint as the starting quarterback for Washington. He dressed for one game for Pittsburgh in 2021, but did not see the field.

Haskins was selected with the number 15 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft after a recording breaking college career at Ohio State. He started 13 games over two seasons in D.C. He threw for 2,804 yards, 12 touchdowns and 14 interceptions while completing 60.1% of his passes.
