PFF Gives Steelers LT Dan Moore Jr. 0.0 Pass Block Grade vs. Browns DE Myles Garrett
CLEVELAND — Steelers rookie left tackle Dan Moore Jr. had an awfully tough assignment on Sunday, as he was tasked to block Cleveland Browns All-Pro defensive end Myles Garrett for most of the afternoon.
How well he did apparently depends on who you ask.
Garrett finished with one sack, one quarterback hit and two pressures and one other tackle. The sack, which put Garrett into double digits for the season, was a vicious one and Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was probably lucky to hold onto the ball.

But Roethlisberger praised Moore’s performance on the whole against the NFL’s most dominant pass rusher.
“I thought Dan did a great job,” Roethlisberger said after the game. “I’s tough to ask a rookie to go against that guy, and what he did today was pretty special. I can’t say enough about the line – run game and pass pro, they are the heart of this group.”
An independent observer had a different characterization of Moore’s play. His grade for the game in pass protection according to Pro Football Focus was a 0.0.
Moore had 40 pass-block reps in the game, and according to PFF didn’t have a single winning performance, matched up against Garrett and backup Ifeadi Odenigbo. PFF gave Garrett a 94.3 grade and Odenigbo a 65.6 grade.
On the whole, Roethlisberger was sacked twice in Cleveland, once by Garrett and once by Malik McDowell. He was also hit five times.
