PFF has Steelers Taking Northern Iowa Tackle Trevor Penning in Latest Mock Draft

Pro Football Focus has released their latest mock draft upon the completion of the regular season, and has the Pittsburgh Steelers bolstering their offensive line.

PFF projects the Steelers will select Northern Iowa offensive tackle Trevor Penning with the 20th-overall pick in the first round.

“While they want Chukwuma Okorafor and Dan Moore Jr. to develop, the Steelers also need to do better,” PFF’s Michael Renner writes. “Penning can be that. He’s a rib-crushing 6-foot-7, 321-pound left tackle who allowed only 13 pressures this past season.”

A three-year starter for the Panthers, Penning was the only lineman named a finalist for the Walter Payton Award this past season, which is awarded annually to the most outstanding offensive player at the FCS level. He was also a unanimous All-American.

Pittsburgh boasted the NFL’s fourth-worst rushing attack during the 2021 season. The Steelers also allowed 38 sacks.
