The Pittsburgh Maulers drafted quarterback Kyle Lauletta as their first round pick and the seventh pick overall in the USFL Draft on Tuesday night.
Lauletta was a fourth-round NFL draft pick by the New York Giants out of Richmond in 2018 and made two appearances the 2018 season.
In his first appearance, he came on in relief of Eli Manning in a 40-16 win over the Washington Redskins in December. Against Washington, he threw five incompletions, one of which was an interception, for a 0.0 quarterback rating. His other appearance came in Week 17 against the Dallas Cowboys, where he played as a blocker.
Lauletta hasn’t made another NFL appearance since then, as he has bounced around different practice squads of the Cleveland Browns twice, Philadelphia Eagles, Atlanta Falcons and Jacksonville Jaguars.
He played college football at Richmond from 2013-17, where he threw for 10,465 yards and 73 touchdowns. Lauletta played in the 2018 Senior Bowl, where he threw for 178 yards and three touchdowns, winning the Senior Bowl MVP.
