The Pittsburgh Steelers’ opponents for the 2022 season have been finalized with the close of the 2021 season on Sunday.
With their win over Baltimore on Sunday, the Steelers finished in second place in the AFC North, which means they will get the second-place finishers from the AFC South, AFC West and NFC East on their schedule, in addition to their traditional six AFC North games and every team from the AFC East and NFC South.
The Steelers’ second-place finish earned them a home game against the Las Vegas Raiders and road games against the Indianapolis Colts and Philadelphia Eagles.
The first-place Bengals will face the Kansas City Chiefs, Tennessee Titans and Dallas Cowboys instead, so the Steelers will get a bit of a reprieve in 2022 after playing one of the NFL’s most difficult schedules in 2021. Third-place Baltimore will face the Los Angeles Chargers, Houston Texans and Washington Football Team, while last-place Cleveland will get the Denver Broncos, Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Giants.
The Steelers will have nine road games for the first time in team history. They played at Heinz Field nine times in 2021, the first NFL season with a 17-game schedule. Season ticket holders will continue to have 11-game plans. The Steelers played just one regular season preseason game in 2021, but will go back to two home preseason games in 2021, with one fewer regular season game on the docket.
