Steelers OLB Alex Highsmith Could Face Lengthy Absence
Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker Alex Highsmith had an MRI on his injured groin and faces a potential lengthy absence.
PITTSBURGH — Alex Highsmith had an MRI on the groin injury that forced the Pittsburgh Steelers right outside linebacker from Sunday’s 20-10 win over the Los Angeles Chargers, he told reporters on Monday.
Highsmith did not yet have the results of that MRI as of Monday afternoon, but the simple fact that he had one signifies that he may be facing a multi-week absence. Highsmith previously injured his groin during training camp. He suffered that injury on Aug. 6 and missed the entire preseason as a result, seeing his first game action in the season opener against the Atlanta Falcons on Sept. 8.
Highsmith indicated that this injury might be worse than the first one.
“It feels a little different,” Highsmith said. “We’ll see wha the results are. … It’s just frustrating when it happens, when the same injury happens. So I’ve just gotta get back, get to rehab and work my way to get back.”
