Broderick Jones Stuns Training Camp in First One-on-One Reps
UNITY TWP., Pa — Broderick Jones was ready for the pads to come on in Latrobe. Because when they did, he straight-up dominated the competition on Tuesday in what was his best day of training camp as a rookie. The rookie got roughed up a bit on Sunday when Alex Highsmith taught him his first NFL lesson with his speed rushes and ghost move, but Jones’ response on Wednesday was even more encouraging.
First, in the team periods, he looked great. In the run game, Jones showed off his power and created multiple lanes for running backs on the day. In those periods, he would not have allowed a sack, and his https://twitter.com/FarabaughFB/status/1686462152666652672?s=20″>technique
appeared to be coming along nicely with the program offensive line coach Pat Meyer has instilled within the team.
It was a perfect 4 of 4 for the rookie left tackle Broderick Jones in the linemen’s one-on-ones. Man, he looked great. His feet were quick and efficient. He anchored well against Markus Golden’s bull rush not once but twice. And then on his last rep, he came out against Toby Ndukwe and buried him into the ground with a snatch-trap move after Ndukwe tried to hit him with a long arm. Count me fully in on Jones for today’s praise.
There’s only so much you can expect out of these guys at this stage in the game, but Jones doing what he did on Tuesday gives plenty of hope that he can win this battle with Dan Moore. We’ll see if Jones ends up eating more into the incumbent snaps, but he needs to be tested more by Highsmith and T.J. Watt to see how fast he is coming along as a player. Certainly, the running backs and Kenny Pickett are excited to see Jones put up a day like the one he did on Tuesday.
