Cam Heyward Ranked No. 42 in NFL Top 100
Steelers All-Pro defensive end Cam Heyward was ranked at No. 42 on the 2022 version of the NFL Top 100. Not only is that the first Steelers defensive player to crack the list, but it is the first Steelers player to crack the listing period. It is not expected that any Steelers offensive player will appear on the list. T.J. Watt should appear on the list even higher than Heyward, with Minkah Fitzpatrick potentially cracking the list as well.
A year ago, Heyward ranked at No. 57 overall, so this is a 15-place jump for the standout Steelers pass rusher. It is the highest ranking of Heyward’s career. The ageless wonder seemingly continues to get better each and every year. In his age 32 season, Heyward still put up at 10 sack seasons and earned first-team All-Pro honors.

What else is there left for Heyward to do at this point? Not much as he somehow defies father time year in and year out. In the video for Heyward’s ranking, Steelers nose tackle Tyson Alualu discussed Heyward’s nickname ‘killer Cam’.
“I call him killer Cam,” Alualu said. “He kills people’s dreams. He makes it so tough on the guards trying to stop him.”
The rest of the top 100 will be revealed throughout the night, and it is expected that Watt will end up in the Top 10. Meanwhile, for Cam Heyward, this probably is still a little too low. Given his production and what he does, he has a fantastic argument for being the second-best defensive tackle in the NFL behind only Aaron Donald. Teammate Chris Wormley sounded off with a comment of ’42 lol’.

Still, Heyward’s inclusion into the Top-50 is noteworthy given how hard it is for interior linemen on either side of the football to get this high up in these rankings. As long as he continues to do what he can do, Heyward may just keep on climbing in these rankings year after year.
