Steelers CB Ahkello Witherspoon Out For Game With Hamstring Injury
CLEVELAND — Steelers cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon left the game with an hamstring injury against the Cleveland Browns. He will miss the rest of the game. On a third-down play in the back of the endzone, Witherspoon was jousting with Amari Cooper and appeared to get injured. He walked off the field into the medical tent after the play.
Witherspoon went down and immediately grabbed his hamstring after the play. He was ushered down the steps and into the locker room for examination as he limped off. While it is not certain if that is the injury, it appears to be something serious enough that trainers want to get a look at Witherspoon right away.
With Witherspoon down, it will move Cam Sutton and Levi Wallace into full-time rolled on the outside. Arthur Maulet will see an increased role in the slot. Witherspoon has had trouble covering Amari Cooper, but without him, the Steelers lose serious size and length on the outside of their cornerback group. That could change how the choose to attack the Browns defensively moving forward.
