PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers look like they’re getting one player back from injury for their Week 7 home game against the New York Jets, and three more will have a chance to get back onto the field at Acrisure Stadium.

Outside linebacker Alex Highsmith said last week that he has been targeting the Jets game for a return, and head coach Mike Tomlin said on Tuesday that he’s confident Highsmith will be able to do so.

Three more players have a chance to do so as well, but Tomlin wants to see them work in practice this week. Those players are free safety Damontae Kazee (ankle), running back Cordarrelle Patterson (ankle) and tight end MyCole Pruitt (knee).

Kazee missed his first game against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 6. He injured his ankle in pregame warmups before the Steelers’ Week 5 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. He was able to play in that game, but swelling preventing him from practicing for most of last week and he was scratched against the Raiders. Terrell Edmunds assumed his duties as the team’s third safety with Kazee out.

Patterson suffered an ankle injury in Week 4 against the Indianapolis Colts and has yet to return to practice. Aaron Shampklin and Jonathan Ward have shared duties as the team’s No. 3 running back and kickoff returner with Patterson out.

Pruitt suffered a right knee injury against the Denver Broncos and seemed closest to returning before last week’s game. He was a limited participant in all three practice sessions leading up to the Raiders game. Rodney Williams II has served as the team’s No. 4 tight end with Pruitt out.

Two Steelers players, outside linebacker Nick Herbig and center Zach Frazier, have been ruled out for Sunday. Jeremiah Moon will serve as the No. 3 outside linebacker with Herbig out. Ryan McCollum is expected to start in place of Frazier.
