Steelers Give Update on Cole Holcomb Injury
Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Cole Holcomb is working his way back from his knee injury and the Steelers are optimistic on his recovery.
PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers added significant pieces to their linebacker room with Payton Wilson and Patrick Queen this offseason. A big part of that reason was due to the severe knee injury suffered by Cole Holcomb last season. But will Holcomb be returning to the field soon? Mike Tomlin did not give a direct timeline but said that Holcomb was doing a ‘heck of a job’ working back to the team.
“He’s working to get back to us and doing a heck of a job of doing it,” Tomlin said.
The injury to Cole Holcomb occurred against the Tennessee Titans and was a result of friendly fire. Holcomb’s knee went into hyperextension, and he suffered a serious knee injury. That caused him to miss the rest of the season and Pittsburgh did not know precisely when he would return. In fact, general manager Omar Khan exercised significant caution whenever mentioning Holcomb throughout the entire offseason.
“I can tell you Cole [Holcomb’s] working extremely hard to get back,” Khan said to reporters before the NFL Draft. “I don’t really have much to add on the timeline. We’ve discussed this, it was a major injury but he is working hard and I’m optimistic about all the effort he’s going to put into getting back on the field.”
