BUFFALO — The Steelers will make some changes to their starting lineup for their game against the BIlls. Wide receiver and returner Gunner Olszewski will not suit up after fumbling twice in four games, thus allowing the opportunity for Steven Sims to step up and get a chance at both spots.
Sims was inactive for the team’s first four games of the season. Now, Gunner Olszewski will be the one on the bench as Pittsburgh tries to get opportunities for other players. Mike Tomlin expressed a lack of confidence in Olszewski earlier in the week, highlighting his lack of ball security.
In addition to Olszewski, cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon (hamstring) and safety Terrell Edmunds (concussion) will miss the game with their respective injuries. Steelers cornerback Cam Sutton dealt with groin and hamstring injuries throughout the week, but will play.
Other inactives include linebacker Mark Robinson, guard Kendrick Green, quarterback Mason Rudolph, and defensive lineman Isaiahh Loudermilk. All of those players have yet to suit up this season through the first five games, and this continues that trend.
Pittsburgh elevated both Elijah Riley and Josh Jackson from the practice squad on Saturday, thus clearing the way for those two to get some significant snaps in the absence of Witherspoon and Edmunds. With the practice squad rules, Jackson can be elevated one more time while Riley still can be elevated twice before they must join the active roster.
