The Pittsburgh Steelers are showing interest in Texas wide receiver Jordan Whittington, according to Justin Melo of the Draft Network. Whittington states that he has met with 15 or more teams throughout the process, but named the Dallas Cowboys, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Houston Texans, and of course, the Steelers as part of those teams that are interested in him.

“I’ve probably met with 15 or more teams. I’ve met with a lot of teams. We’re talking about half the league. The Texans, Buccaneers, Steelers, Cowboys, it feels like they’ve been in good contact. I’ve pretty much met with 15 or more teams,” Whittington said.

Whittington is a nice fit for what Arthur Smith wants at the position. He’s well-built with a dense frame and plenty of experience working out of the slot. Whittington actually started his career at running back and his contact balance and toughness make him difficult to get on the ground.

Perhaps most importantly, he’s a willing blocker with the requisite size to make an impact there at the next level. He’s a true team-first player who was regularly seen making the extra effort for teammates on the perimeter. Whittington would be a late round target for the Steelers.

Steelers wide receivers coach Zach Azzanni attended Texas Pro Day, so this makes plenty of sense. Azzanni headed to Texas to watch AD Mitchell, Xavier Worthy, and Whittington. Mitchell and Worthy are likely first round picks. Meanwhile, Whittington could be had with one of Pittsburgh’s day three selections, especially in a scenario where they double up on the position.
