Steelers Host USFL RB for Tryout

Steelers Zaquandre White

The Steelers are hosting former Dolphins and current USFL running back Zaquandre White on a tryout, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC-TV in Houston.

White played with the USFL champions, the Birmingham Stallions, with running backs C.J. Marable and Ricky Person. He racked up 128 yards and 2 touchdowns in the season on 29 attempts. He added 81 receiving yards and another receiving touchdown to that resume during the championship run with the Stallions.

The Steelers have shown an interest in some USFL and XFL talents, and White is just the latest one. It comes on the heels of Alfonzo Graham revealing that he would miss the rest of the season with a torn labrum in his shoulder. That means the team is down a running back for their RB3 competition. The room currently consists of Najee Harris, Jaylen Warren, Anthony McFarland, Jason Huntley, and Darius Hagans.

White has played in the NFL before with the Miami Dolphins. Coming out of the draft in the 2022 NFL Draft, White was signed as an undrafted free agent and failed to stick with the team. Coming out of South Carolina, White ran for 583 yards on 88 carries in 12 games during his redshirt senior season. He spent a year in JUCO after moving to outside linebacker at Florida State, but moved back to running back. South Carolina then picked White up out of the JUCO market.
