Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it’s the matchup between Justin Fields and Los Angeles Chargers edge rushers Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack.
Of course, Bosa and Mack will primarily face off against Steelers tackle Dan Moore Jr. and Troy Fautanu, but Fields needs to expect that rushers of their talent level will get through at least a few times over the course of a game.
Fields has taken just two sacks and has not turned the ball over through two games. If he can keep those kinds of numbers up while leading the offense to where it needs to go against a much improved pass rush compared to the first two weeks, he might start to plant his flag in the QB1 battle for when Russell Wilson returns.
