Former Los Angeles Chargers offensive coordinator Kellen Moore is taking a job as the next offensive coordinator of the Philadelphia Eagles, according to a report by Howard Eskin of WIP Radio in Philadelphia. Moore had not been a candidate for the Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator vacancy.

Moore, 35, spent just one season as the Chargers’ coordinator. It was expected that he would not remain in the role after the firing of head coach Brandon Staley and the hiring of former Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh.

The Eagles fired offensive coordinator Brian Johnson after their season ended in the Wild Card Round.

The Eagles had also interviewed Houston Texans quarterbacks coach Jarrod Johnson and former Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury for their opening, two names that had been attached to the Steelers’ job.

A six-year NFL quarterback after his career at Boise State, Moore played for the Detroit Lions from 2012-14 and the Dallas Cowboys from 2015-17. He got into coaching in 2018 with the Cowboys as quarterbacks coach. He was promoted to offensive coordinator in 2019 and had that job until he was fired by Mike McCarthy after the 2022 season.

The Eagles’ hire comes on the heels of the Atlanta Falcons hiring Los Angeles Rams quarterbacks coach Zac Robinson as their OC on Saturday evening. The two moves leave eight NFL offensive coordinator vacancies: the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cleveland Browns, Chargers, New England Patriots, Las Vegas Raiders, New Orleans Saints, Seattle Seahawks and Steelers.

Additionally, the Buffalo Bills are interviewing candidates while so far retaining interim offensive coordinator Joe Brady, and the Washington Commanders have interviewed OC Eric Bieniemy for their vacant head coach position.
