Former Steelers Punter Signs in UFL
Former Pittsburgh Steelers punter Brad Wing has re-signed with the San Antonio Brahmas of the UFL for the spring 2025 season.
Former Pittsburgh Steelers punter Brad Wing has signed with the San Antonio Bahamas of the United Football League for the spring 2025 season.
Wing, 33, spent two stints with the Steelers last year, joining the practice squad on Sept. 27 and playing as a gameday elevation on Sept. 30 after an injury to Pressley Harvin III. Wing played in two games before being released and also re-joined the Steelers in January for their playoff run.
The club did not re-sign Wing for 2024, and in fact did not have any competition for new punter Cameron Johnston throughout the offseason. When Johnston suffered a season-ending injury in Week 1 against the Atlanta Falcons, the Steelers brought back Corliss Waitman, who had been with the team in 2020 and 2021, instead of Wing.
Wing will return to San Antonio, where he resurrected his career in 2023. He spent the 2023 and 2024 springs with the Brahmas. He was second in the UFL with a 45.7 yards per punt average this past spring, with a long of 64 yards and a league-high 12 punts downed inside the 20-yard line.
Wing spent the 2014 season with the Steelers, making his NFL debut with the club after being cut by the Philadelphia Eagles the year before. After one solid season, he was traded to the New York Giants in 2015. Wing spent three seasons in New York, before substance abuse problems forced him out of football.
“The Steelers have made my dreams become a reality, twice in the same lifetime,” Wing said last year. “For that, I am forever grateful. That’s a special place.”
