PITTSBURGH — Rookie wide receiver Roman Wilson appears set to make his NFL debut for the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday in the team’s Week 3 game against the Los Angeles Chargers, but another rookie, Troy Fautanu, might miss the game with an injury.

Wilson was a full participant in the team’s final practice session of the week, his second straight full practice session, and was not given an injury designation in the team’s final practice status report on Friday.

The team’s third-round pick out of Michigan in the 2024 NFL Draft, Wilson suffered a left ankle sprain during the first padded practice of training camp way back on July 30, and has been rehabbing ever since.

“Every day I come into this building, I just do what I can to get ready for the game,” Wilson said on Thursday. “I just come here and practice hard and do what I’ve got to do, one day at a time. … Every day I feel like I come in here and get a little bit better. That’s all I can really focus on, having a good attitude and getting better every day.”

Two Steelers players have been ruled out against the Chargers and two more are listed as questionable.

Left guard Isaac Seumalo (pec) and tight end MyCole Pruitt (knee) are both out. Neither player practiced all this week. Spencer Anderson will replace Seumalo at left guard for the third straight game. Rodney Williams II, who was called up from the practice squad earlier this week, should replace Pruitt in the tight end rotation.

Quarterback Russell Wilson and tackle Troy Fautanu are both listed as questionable. Wilson is expected to once again be the emergency backup behind Justin Fields and Kyle Allen. He has been very limited in mobility during practice drills this week.

Fautanu suffered a knee injury in practice on Friday. The first-round pick had just returned to action from a preseason knee injury. It’s unknown if this is a new injury or an aggravation of the old one. His status remains very much up in the air. Broderick Jones will replace him if he is unable to play.
