Najee Harris has reportedly suffered a ‘small’ reaggravation of his lisfranc injury that he suffered back in training camp, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports.
The injury was initially suffered all the way back in the early August window of training camp. Back then, Mike Tomlin brushed it off as minor with Harris being potentially stepped on by one of his teammates. However, this seems to be a reaggravation of this injury. Harris had an MRI done on Monday, and that was the diagnosis. Luckily for the Steelers, it seems to be minor.

“This is related to, in my understanding, to the lisfranc sprain he had early on in camp,” Rapoport said. “He tweaked it a little bit. As of now, it does not appear to be major. That is the general feel, but he had an MRI done this morning. He is still getting some tests done to see if there is more here or if it is just a small reaggravation of previous injury.”
It sounds like Harris escaped certain doom with a serious injury. That is good news for the Steelers. It is likely he will be held out at least for a little bit. When he hurt it the first time around, Harris missed two weeks of practice and the first two preseason games with the injury. Given that this is a reaggravation, it stands to say that Pittsburgh is likely to play with an abundance of caution towards their star running back.
With Najee Harris hurt, it will be the Jaylen Warren and Benny Snell show in the Steelers backfield. Warren played over 30 percent of the snaps against the Bengals, while Snell was mostly on special teams only. Harris is a big blow to the Steelers offense, but they should have him back sooner than later at this point with the injury seemingly minor.
