Steelers WR Steven Sims Questionable, James Pierre Fumbles Kick Return
BUFFALO — Steelers wide receiver Steven Sims is questionable to return to the game with an eye injury the team announced shortly after kickoff on Sunday.
Gunner Olszewski, Pittsburgh’s usual return man, is inactive after the team gave the opportunity to Sims. However, it now appears that SIms may not be able to go for the rest of the day with that injury. It already has come back to bite Pittsburgh with a fumble from James Pierre. For the Steelers, that ended up in no points allowed the other way due to a blocked kick from DeMarvin Leal.
If Sims can not return to the game, Pittsburgh will have to use a bevy of players in a rotation in order to get through the game at returner. It also shortens their wide receiving corps, with Pittsburgh now down to only four true players in that group in Diontae Johnson, Chase Claypool, Miles Boykin, and George Pickens.
Sims was slated to not just be a kick returner and punt returner, but also a jolt at punt returner for Pittsburgh.
