Vontaze Burfict Admits He Played Dirty vs. Pittsburgh: ‘F— the Steelers’

Steelers Vontaze Burfict

Vontaze Burfict and the Pittsburgh Steelers have a long history with one another, and to say the least, it was not a pretty history together, either. With Burfict, he was accused of multiple dirty hits, including against Le’Veon Bell, Ben Roethlisberger, and most notably, Antonio Brown. But JuJu Smith-Schuster would get revenge the next year and slam Burfict on a huge block, concussing him. Since that happened, Burfict and the Steelers have mainly held the tempers down after he was suspended from the league while playing with the Raiders.

While he streamed Madden on Thursday, Burfict commented on his past with the Steelers, and said he would intentionally hit people after the play just because he hated them.

“I didn’t hit people after the play all the time,” Burfict said. “Just the Steelers. Fuck the Steelers.”

In training camp, Burfict exchanged barbs with Joey Porter Jr. and Sr. Porter Jr. was asked by Daniel Jeremiah of NFL Network who he hated the most when growing up as a Steelers fan, and the answer was not generally hard — it was Vontaze Burfict.

However, Burfict saw the clip that was going around the Internet and decided to fire back. In an Instagram story posted last night, Burfict posted an inflammatory response to the comments that Porter Jr. said when he was asked by Jeremiah. Let’s just say that there is no love lost between Burfict and Porter Sr.

“I’m happy your daddy got stories about me, but fuck your daddy,” Burfict said. “And for y’all that still watch this rigged ass NFL, what kind of question was that on national TV?”

Burfict became notorious for his number of dirty hits as a member of the Cincinnati defense, including a personal foul against Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown in the 2015 playoffs that helped cost the Bengals the game. He was also fined in 2018 for hits against Brown and Steelers running back James Conner.

Burfict has not played in the NFL since incurring a 12-game suspension from the league in 2019 after a helmet-to-helmet hit against Indianapolis Colts tight end Jack Doyle.
