The Pittsburgh Steelers could wind up taking Matthew Golden with the No. 21 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. If they do, the speedy Texas receiver will be in Green Bay to hold up his new black and gold threads.

Golden has made a few stops in the lead-up to the draft. He passed through Indianapolis and ran a 4.29-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine in February. The Steelers hosted him for a visit in Pittsburgh on Thursday. Now, he’s slated to wait to hear his destination at the draft later this month.

NFL.com’s Daniel Jeremiah tabs Golden as the No. 16 overall prospect in this year’s draft class. He led the Longhorns with 987 receiving yards last season. His nine touchdown grabs were the most in the SEC.

“Golden has average size, but he plays with tremendous polish, instincts and toughness,” Jeremiah wrote. “He spends a lot of time operating out of the slot. He can defeat press coverage with quickness or strength. He understands how to tempo routes and sets up defenders down the field. He can change gears when the ball goes up and he tracks it naturally.”

Ohio State’s Emeka Egbuka and Missouri’s Luther Burden III are other possible pass-catching targets for the Steelers. They traded for former Seattle Seahawks wideout DK Metcalf last month and also have George Pickens, Calvin Austin III, and Roman Wilson at that position.
