Potential Steelers WR Target Cooper Kupp Signs Elsewhere

The Seattle Seahawks have signed free agent wide receiver Cooper Kupp, taking a potential fit for the Pittsburgh Steelers off the board.
Kupp agreed to a three-year, $45 million contact with the Seahawks, per multiple reports, after his release from the Los Angeles Rams earlier this week.
Kupp was considered a possible fit for the Steelers because he is a very different type of receiver that current starters George Pickens and DK Metcalf, and would also not count against the 2026 compensatory draft picks the team is hoarding because he was released.
Despite that, he’ll head to Seattle to replace released inside receiver Tyler Lockett, who is among the players the Steelers could pivot to, if they’re still looking for wide receiver help. Kupp is a Yakima, Washington native and played at Eastern Washington, so the move to Seattle will be a homecoming for him.

Kupp can still prove to be a serviceable wide receiver. His best football is behind him, but he still had 67 catches for 710 yards and six touchdowns in 12 games in 2024.
But he will turn 32 this summer and has missed significant playing time in each of the past three seasons due to injury. He played nine games in 2022 and 12 each in 2023 and 2024 while dealing with multiple ankle injuries and a hamstring issue.
Since being drafted in the third round (No. 69 overall) by the Rams in 2017, Kupp has recorded 634 catches for 7,776 yards and 57 touchdowns.
In addition to Lockett, Amari Cooper, Keenan Allen, Brandin Cooks and Tyler Boyd remain unsigned on the open market if the Steelers want another wide receiver.
