AT STAKE
From the team perspective, wins and losses preseason games don’t have much of an impact, but focusing on the individuals, there is plenty to be gained and lost by a good or bad performance Saturday night.
Kenny Pickett will have the spotlight on him as the Steelers look to move him up in the pecking order for this game, ahead of Mason Rudolph.
That should give Pickett a chance at playing against more NFL regulars compared to his second half duty against the Seahawks last week.
At running back, Najee Harris isn’t expected to play, with all of Benny Snell Jr., Anthony McFarland Jr. and Jaylen Warren rotating with the first and second teams. That represents a big opportunity for the undrafted rookie to show what he can do in direct comparison with the team’s more established backups.
Other positions to watch are at left guard, where Kendrick Green will start at left guard over Kevin Dotson and the battle between Robert Spillane and Devin Bush at inside linebacker.
Finally, NFL teams must cut down their rosters from 85 players to 80 on Tuesday, so for five players, this will be the end of the road on their 2022 journey.
