QB Ben DiNucci Inactive for Cowboys vs. Steelers

Pittsburgh faithful will not get to see hometown son Ben DiNucci on Sunday when the Steelers take on the Dallas Cowboys.

DiNucci is not dressed for the Cowboys, as head coach Mike McCarthy will go with just two quarterbacks in his gameday roster: Garrett Gilbert and Cooper Rush.

DiNucci, a Pittsburgh native and Pine-Richland and Pitt alum, was the Cowboys’ seventh-round pick and third-string quarterback this season. He was thrust into duty after injuries to Dak Prescott and Andy Dalton, who was later placed on the COVID-19 list.

The Cowboys had trouble protecting DiNucci after he started their Week 8 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles and head coach Mike McCarthy announced this week that he did not think it wise to start the rookie against the Steelers’ formidable pass rush. Gilbert is expected to start.

Also not dressed for the Cowboys are linebacker Joe Thomas, defense end Bradlee Anae, fullback Sewo Olonilua, safety Reggie Robinson and wide receiver Malik Turner.
