Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams is expected to miss his second straight game in the midst of a trade request, and that could be a good thing for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Adams did not play in the Raiders’ Week 4 win over the Cleveland Browns, citing a hamstring injury, and he is also not expected to suit up this week against the Denver Broncos, according to a report by Adam Schefter of ESPN,.

Adams complained of an injury to get himself out of a preseason game earlier this year, which has led to speculation about the legitimacy of his hamstring injury. Diana Russini of The Athletic reports that it is genuine and will cost him one to two weeks.

That would cause Adams to miss the Raiders’ Week 6 home game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and also could remove a potential roadblock to him being traded to Pittsburgh.

Things have come to a head quickly between Adams and the Raiders after head coach Antonio Pierce called out the effort of his players in a Week 3 loss to the Carolina Panthers, promising that the team was going to make some business decisions.

After Adams was held out of the club’s Week 4 win over the Browns, Pierce reportedly liked a post on Instagram that said that Adams has likely played his last game in a Raiders uniform. Adams said on Tuesday morning that he had not spoken to his coach about it.

Later that day, reports came out that the Raiders had been shopping Adams to other teams and that Adams had told the club he would prefer to be traded.

The Steelers have been in contact with the Raiders about trading for Adams, according to multiple media reports and confirmed by Steelers Now.

But the fact that the Raiders and Steelers are scheduled to play in Week 6 could have meant that the Raiders would have preferred not to send him here right now.

That dynamic could have caused the Raiders to prefer to trade Adams elsewhere, but now that he can’t play anywhere for the next week or two, there seems to be less of a rush to get a deal done.

The New York Jets, where Adams’ former Green Bay Packers teammate Aaron Rodgers is the starting quarterback, remain the favorites to land Adams. The New Orleans Saints have also been touted as a potential landing spot. Saints quarterback Derek Carr was previously with the Raiders.
