Rams Could be Without Critical Starter for Steelers Game

Rams LB Ernest Jones Steelers

The Rams could be without crucial starting inside linebacker Ernest Jones against the Steelers on Sunday. Jones is listed as questionable with a knee injury on the team’s final injury report. He practiced in a limited fashion the last two days with the injury. Should he not play, Christian Rozeboom will be joined by Troy Reeder and Jake Hummel. Jones has played at a high level this year, with Next Gen Stats listing him as one of the NFL’s best inside linebackers through six weeks of the season.

Amid his breakout year, Jones has dealt with a few injuries. The injury is described as general knee swelling. He played last week with the injury, but the management of the injury is one that the Rams have to consider, meaning that Jones has his status up in the air. Defensive coordinator Raheem Morris loves what he has seen out of his green dot wearer at inside linebacker, and his communication skills have leaped.

“I’m really fired up with Ernest and what he has been able to do,” Morris said during Thursday’s press conference. “(I love) to watch him play and to watch him lead and watch him be our what we call green dot, our central leader, our voice, our central communicator. He is the person that’s done the most for us when it comes to coach-to-player communication. He’s also been one of our top players and top dogs when it comes to tackling and production. I couldn’t say enough good things about what Ernest has done for us and what he’s going to continue to do.”
