Justin Tucker kicked six field goals Baltimore Ravens took care of business against the Tennessee Titans in London, re-taking first place in the AFC North while the Steelers were on their bye week.
The Ravens jumped out to a big two-touchdown lead in the first half before letting the Titans back into it, but an injury to Tennessee quarterback Ryan Tannehill was ultimately too much for the Titans to overcome.
Baltimore leaned heavily on kicker Tucker, as he kicked four first-half field goals to spot the Ravens a big lead. Tucker’s first three and a Lamar Jackson to Zay Flowers touchdown pass gave the Ravens an early 15-3 lead.
Then the Titans handed them a gift. Returner Kyle Phillips muffed a Jordan Stout punt with just seconds on the clock in the second quarter and deep in Tennessee territory. Baltimore recovered with one second left, setting Tucker up for a 29-yard chip shot to make it 18-3 at the half.
Tennessee responded in the third quarter, getting a second field goal from Nick Folk. Then Sean Murphy-Bunting intercepted Lamar Jackson to give the Titans great field position. After a personal foul on Kyle Hamilton for a helmet-to-helmet hit, Derrick Henry rumbled for a 15-yard touchdown to cut the Ravens advantage to five points.
Hamilton was ejected for the hit on Chris Moore, who did not return to the game with a concussion.
The Titans were moving the ball back into Baltimore territory again when Western Pennsylvania native Geno Stone intercepted Tannehill. The Ravens turned that turnover into a fifth Tucker field goal. More importantly, Tannehill was forced from the game, with Malik Willis taking over at quarterback.
Tucker’s sixth field goal made it a two-score game late, and the Titans only able to add one more Folk field goal before time ran out.
Tannehill’s status will be worth watching for the Steelers. The Titans come to Pittsburgh in Week 9.
