Ravens CB Receives Hefty Fine for Taunting Steelers on Pick-Six
The NFL fined Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey $11,255 for unsportsmanlike conduct (taunting) in last Saturday’s 34-17 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Humphrey held the ball towards Steelers wide receiver Calvin Austin III on his pick-six. He was not penalized on the play.
After the game, Humphrey claimed that he wanted to pitch his pick-six to teammate David Ojabo and wasn’t taunting the Steelers. The NFL, obviously, thought otherwise
“I want to make this, like, pretty clear,” Humphrey told reporters. “When I was running with the football I saw [linebacker] David Ojabo, a really great teammate of mine, and I was trying to pitch him the football. So some people brought up to me that it looked like taunting, or something. But I was trying to pitch him the football and there was no taunting there at all. I just want to make that very clear.”

The Steelers battled back after facing a 17-7 deficit, tying the game at 17-17 with 5:14 remaining in the third quarter. The Ravens answered with a touchdown drive and appeared to have all the momentum after a fourth-and-6 stop, but Minkah Fitzpatrick picked off an ill-advised pass by Jackson and returned it 25 yards to the 33-yard line.
The turning point of the game happened two plays later, as Humphrey picked off Wilson and scampered down the sideline for a 37-yard touchdown to enhance the Ravens lead to 31-17 with 13:06 remaining.
“I think it definitely changed the game when they got that interception,” Wilson said. “I thought the defense did a good job of getting the ball back, and I was trying to throw it to [MyCole] Pruitt. It was front number and the ball just stayed inside, unfortunately, and they made a play.”
Steelers All-Pro free safety Minkah Fitzpatrick was also fined $11,255.00 for a face mask penalty on Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers.
