The Baltimore Ravens have lost their second defensive coach in a 24-hour span, as defensive backs coach Dennard Wilson is leaving the team. According to a report by Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report, Wilson will become the next defensive coordinator of the Tennessee Titans.

The Ravens have a vacancy at defensive coordinator, because earlier on Wednesday, it was announced that Baltimore DC Mike Macdonald will be taking the head coach job with the Seattle Seahawks.

It’s possible that Wilson could have been an internal candidate to replace Macdonald, but now he’s on the move, as well,.

Under Wilson, Geno Stone led all NFL safeties and was second in the league overall with seven interceptions in 2023. Kyle Hamilton added four, giving Baltimore the most productive safety duo in the NFL, in terms of takeaways.

The 41-year old Wilson will be a defensive coordinator for the first time in Tennessee. He first broke into the NFL as a quality control coach with the St. Louis Rams in 2012. He was a defensive backs coach with the Rams, New York Jets and Philadelphia Eagles from 2015-22 before coming over to the Ravens last offseason.

Chris Hewitt, who was defensive pass game coordinator, is the top internal candidate to replace Macdonald.

The Titans are completely revamping their coaching staff after firing head coach Mike Vrabel. New head coach Brian Callahan will have Wilson as one coordinator and is currently interviewing offensive coordinator candidates.

The Steelers will obviously play the Ravens twice in 2024. They do not have either Seattle or Tennessee on their list of 2024 opponents.
