Ravens Release Former Steelers Slot Corner, Reunion?
The Baltimore Ravens are planning to release veteran cornerback Arthur Maulet, who previously played for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Baltimore Ravens are parting ways with a familiar face to the Pittsburgh Steelers. According to NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe, the Ravens are planning to release veteran cornerback Arthur Maulet.
Maulet joined the Steelers on a one-year deal in 2021. During that season, he had 47 tackles, one forced fumble and one pass defensed, which earned him a two-year contract extension the next offseason.
However, Pittsburgh released Maulet just one year into his extension. It was a bit surprising since he was coming off the most productive season of his career, recording a career-high 59 tackles, two sacks, one forced fumble and one interception.

So, could the Steelers entertain a reunion with Maulet?
Pittsburgh already agreed to terms with veteran cornerback Darius Slay, but he is 34 and primarily plays on the outside. The team has been trying to fill the void left by slot corner Mike Hilton since his departure following the 2020 season.
Maulet has arguably given the Steelers the best play at that position since then, which is why it could make sense. That doesn’t mean it does for Maulet, though.
Following his release by Pittsburgh, Maulet joined the Ravens on a one-year deal and had another strong season, registering 37 tackles, two sacks, two fumble recoveries, one interception and five passes defensed in 2023.
That earned Maulet another two-year contract extension and helped him to fully move on from his former team.
“It’s football, man. Obviously it’s business is business,” Maulet said on Glenn Clark Radio. “It’s a rivalry. Don’t get me wrong. I don’t like those guys anymore. I respect them, I don’t have to like them.”
That doesn’t mean Maulet would shut the door completely on a return to Pittsburgh, but he will likely weigh all of his options first.
Maulet comes at a risk, as well. In 2024, he was limited to just three games due to calf and knee injuries.
