The Baltimore Ravens will be without one of their starting wide receivers against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday, with another as a game-time decision.
The Ravens have ruled veteran wide receiver Nelson Agholor out of the team’s game on Saturday in Baltimore against Pittsburgh, the team announced after walkthrough on Friday. The club had initially listed Agholor as questionable. He has been in the NFL concussion protocol since leaving last Sunday’s game against the New York Giants and did not practice this week.
Fellow starter Rashod Bateman is also questionable. Bateman suffered a foot injury in practice on Wednesday, when he was limited, and did not practice on Thursday. He was seen at the Ravens facility on Thursday with a walking boot.
Bateman is Baltimore’s No. 2 receiver, with 654 yards on 38 reception this season, behind only Zay Flowers. After Bateman, Baltimore’s next-most prolific receivers are tight ends Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely and running back Justice Hill.
Bateman is coming off a two-touchdown performance against the New York Giants. He ranks second on the team in touchdown receptions with seven, behind only Andrews’ eight.
Agholor is the team’s third-most prolific wide receiver, with 14 catches for 231 yards and two touchdowns on the season.
The Ravens have already ruled out former Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson, who was excused from practice this week after serving a one-week suspension last week for refusing to enter the Ravens’ Dec. 1 game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Tylan Wallace, with 10 catches for 191 yards, and rookie Tez Walker, with one reception on the season, are the only other wide receivers on Baltimore’s 53-man roster and will both likely start if Bateman is unable to.
Former Steelers wide receiver Anthony Miller, converted quarterback Malik Cunningham, ex-Saints and Panthers receiver Keith Kirkwood and undrafted rookie Dayton Wade are candidates to be elevated from the Baltimore practice squad.
