Reinforcements on the Way for Steelers Defense
The Pittsburgh Steelers will get three key starters back from injury on defense for their Week 17 game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Strong safety DeShon Elliott, cornerback Donte Jackson and defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi will all return from injuries on Wednesday. All three players were listed as full participants in Tuesday’s final practice session and do not have an injury status for the game.
All three players missed the team’s 34-17 Week 16 loss to the Baltimore Ravens with injury.
Elliott has been the most impactful absence of the bunch. He suffered a hamstring injury against the Cleveland Browns in Week 14. He was able to finish that game, but missed each of the next two. Without Elliott in the lineup, the Steelers lost back-to-back games by 14 or more points since the 2003 season.
Jackson suffered a pinched nerve in his back against the Browns. He left that game and was able to return. The following week against the Eagles, he left and was unable to return before sitting out against the Ravens.
Ogunjobi has been out since suffering a groin injury during the team’s Week 14 win over the Browns on Dec. 8.
