NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported in early June that Hooker had visited the Steelers, but he left without a deal at the time.
Hooker would have provided much needed depth to the backend of Pittsburgh’s secondary behind Minkah Fitzpatrick and Terrell Edmunds. The Steelers lost experienced backup safeties Sean Davis and Jordan Dangerfield this offseason.
A first round selection of the Colts in the 2017 NFL Draft, Hooker has played his entire four-year career in Indianapolis.
Hooker suffered a torn Achilles’ tendon just two games into the 2020 season.
He has recorded 124 combined tackles, eleven passes defended and seven interceptions.
Hooker played just two seasons at Ohio State, but had an outstanding 2016 campaign. He was one of the best ballhawks in the nation intercepting seven passes, three of which he returned for scores. Hooker also had 74 total tackles and 5.5 tackles-for-loss.
