Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson and the NFLPA are reportedly prepared to file a lawsuit against the NFL in federal court if he receives a season-long suspension, according to Yahoo Sports’ Charles Robinson.

The league has recommended Watson be suspended for the entire 2022 season, but all parties are still awaiting the decision of Judge Sue Robinson, which could come just prior to or during Browns training camp.

Cleveland opens camp on July 26.

If the league is unsatisfied with the length of Watson’s punishment, they will appeal, Yahoo Sports reported further.

Watson and his legal team recently reached settlement agreements with 20 of the 24 women accusing the quarterback of sexual misconduct during massage therapy sessions.

Watson avoided criminal charges after a pair of Texas grand juries declined to indict him earlier this year.
