Former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end Brentson Buckner is reportedly a candidate for Auburn’s defensive line vacancy, according to AL.com’s Nubyjas Wilborn.
Buckner has served as the Arizona Cardinals’ defensive line coach for the last two seasons.
Former Miami interim head coach Jess Simpson and veteran defensive line coach Jimmy Brumbaugh are the other two candidates for the role formerly held by Nick Eason, who left for Clemson.
Buckner was drafted by the Steelers in the second round of the 1994 NFL Draft out of Clemson. He recorded 102 total tackles, eight sacks and three fumble recoveries over three seasons in Pittsburgh.
Buckner began his professional coaching career with Pittsburgh as an intern from 2010 to 2012.
