Longtime Steelers guard David DeCastro has been dealing with an ankle injury, according to a report by Mike Garafalo of NFL Network, and is evaluating whether he wants to continue to play football.
DeCastro, 31, was released by the Steelers on Thursday after not participating in the team’s minicamp last week.
DeCastro has been having his ankle evaluated recently, sources said. He’s had issues with it for quite some time. Had surgery on it before last season. He’s evaluating his future. https://t.co/pzokwBJ3CT

According to Garafalo, DeCastro is having his ankle evaluated and that DeCastro has had issues with it for some time, including a surgery before the 2020 season.
DeCastro was limited during training camp and missed the first two games of the 2020 season with what he and the Steelers called a knee injury at the time. It’s unclear if that was related to his ankle issue.
