While a pair of superstar quarterbacks snatched the headlines league-wide on Tuesday, another NFC signal caller received good news on the injury front. San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo reportedly had successful shoulder surgery Tuesday, and is expected to be throwing well before training camp begins, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.

Garoppolo will be rehabbing over the coming months, but now because the top trade target at his position with the immediate futures of Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson already decided.

He is entering the final year of his contract, and is set to make $24.2 million in base salary in 2022.

Garoppolo passed for 3,810 yards and 20 touchdowns with 12 interceptions last season. He navigated San Francisco to their second NFC championship game appearance over the last three years.

The news on Garoppolo came on the same day that Aaron Rodgers announced he’s staying in Green Bay and Russell Wilson was traded from Seattle to Denver, making Garoppolo the highest-profile quarterback left on the trade market.
