Not only is Pittsburgh’s Mike Tomlin one of the most respected head coaches in all of sports, but he is apparently one of the most handsomely paid as well.
According to Sportico, Tomlin is tied as the fifth-highest paid coach in American sports. He and San Antonio Spurs boss Greg Popovich each reportedly command an $11.5 million-per-year salary.
Tomlin is also the fifth-highest paid coach in the NFL. Only New England’s Bill Belichick, Seattle’s Pete Carroll, New Orleans’ Sean Payton and Kansas City’s Andy Reid are compensated more.

Just behind Tomlin in the rankings are the most handsomely paid college coaches, Alabama’s Nick Saban and Texas A&M’s Jimbo Fisher.
Tomlin signed a three-year contract extension in April. He owns a 150-81-2 record as a head coach, and his 64.8% winning percentage is the 17th-best in league history.
He has won a Super Bowl, led the Steelers to another and still never had a losing season.
